Tammy earned her Certified Professional Coach designation in 2005. While in the coach training program, Tammy got clarity around her future in the coaching world and combined that with a powerful affirmation and her passion for building business, the result –an internal coaching position within a young start-up company and over 40 immediate clients across the country. Tammy was coaching full-time before graduation, AND she accumulate enough coaching hours to apply for her PCC at the same time she graduated with her CPC status.
Tammy is actively involved with the coaching community, mentoring, encouraging and coaching new and aspiring coaches. “Part of my vision and heart for our profession is to see that all of our certified coaches have thriving careers and prosperous lives. To see that come true, I feel strongly that my role is to share my experience and knowledge with others,” shares Redmon. Tammy is an active member of the local ICF Chapter, Puget Sound Coaches Association and for the last year and a half she has held two positions on the board as Secretary and President Elect. With the election of current board President, Janet Harvey to the ICF international board, Tammy steps in to take Janet’s place as President of the PSCA as of January 2009.
In the past 20-months Tammy went from an Internal Coach within a franchise company, serving her clients nationwide to starting her own company, with clients worldwide. Her primary focus is working with Executives, Leadership Teams and C-level clients. She is a frequent keynote speaker and TeleSeminar leader on Leadership, Personal Power, Self-Efficacy and Limiting Beliefs.
What do I love about coaching: My passion for coaching is deep within my spirit. I love the opportunity to engage with my clients in such away that their lives and businesses are profoundly changed. It is in the shifting of perspective and opening up of mindsets that I get most excited about coaching. Everyday my clients teach me something new about myself, business, choice and my future. Coaching has taught me how to listen, really listen to the ‘whole person’ not just the words. It’s listening to the unspoken words that birth the coaching questions and it is at that intersection I find the greatest fulfillment.
Where do you intend to be with coaching in five years? I know I will be coaching, teaching and continuing to entertain audiences. I know what lies before me is much grander than where I am today. I believe staying very action focused is key in building a successful business, I continuously ask, ‘what single action will produce the greatest results.’ It is in that question that I find what’s next. The other key (and most challenging for me) is taking exquisite care of self. I have to be centered with who I AM so I can be of service to others. I have to remind myself, I am not wonder-woman!
What tips do I have for new coaches? (1) Market yourself (be intentional) as Coach. It’s more than a website and business cards. (2) Be clear about what sets you apart as a coach in the world and the results that you want to produce. Lastly, if you don’t know how to build a business, ask for help and use the resources around you. It is sad to me when I hear of very strong coaches that stop coaching because they aren’t getting clients – if you aren’t getting to your goal, figure out what’s missing in the equation to get you to that end. It may take asking for help to make it happen. But, if you don’t know what’s missing, you may never get there.
