About Zachery Gaither

My Name is Zachery Gaither, cofounder of Kool 2 Care. I’ve been volunteering and supporting nonprofits and charities in a big way for the better part of the last 20 years. I’ve been involved in everything from environmental restoration and education, to pet rescue and helping the homeless and everything in between.

A lot of my passion for helping others comes from being raised by my mom and always seeing how she wanted to help others even though we, (my brother and sisters and I) had so little. My second year in college I was elected President of the Spanish Club. This was a big turning point in my life and together, we found very creative ways to raise money that we used to travel to the Dominican Republic to help rebuild after hurricanes, work with street kids, and teach communities about the environment. The rest is literally history. I got one of my degrees in environmental studies and it has been my passion in life since the year 2000 when I started college. My brother and sister both have a deep love and passion for the environment as well, so we started brainstorming on ways to do something about the climate emergency. We came up with Kool 2 Care or K2C.

We decided if it’s not going to be “convenient” to care about the planet, then it has to be Kool, and if we can make it convenient and kool, that would be even better. We really want to make it kool 2 care about our planet and our communities. The main driver of the movement is to leave a piece of the pie for future generations, and leave the planet better than how we found it. The first initiative that we are spearheading with K2C is to stop the out of control consumption of single use plastic items. Our strategy is to raise awareness about single use plastics issues and empower individuals and communities to take action, by providing the techniques and tools needed to effectively reduce single use plastic waste in daily life and generally become more ecofriendly.
