About Dr. Jagger Harvey
Jagger Harvey grew up astride vastly different communities, from rural Haiti and Washington State to the suburban Washington, DC area. From a young age, he felt compelled to seek out solutions for his friends – in farming families in the US and abroad. After receiving his Ph.D. at the University of California, Davis, he continued studying how plants fend off pathogens at Cambridge University in the UK. Having attained world-class training in basic research, Jagger worked at Biosciences eastern and central Africa in Kenya, working to empower African scientists and their international partners to address key challenges to producing adequate and safe food in Africa. After seven years in Kenya, Dr. Harvey assumed leadership of Kansas State University’s Feed the Future Innovation Lab for the Reduction of Post-Harvest Loss, working to secure the harvest in seven countries globally, and bring lessons back home for the benefit of US agriculture and consumers.
